Real/Deal/Steal: A Glamorous and Mod Corner Bar

by Kelly Anne Bonner We don't believe a home bar has to be sleekly modern to be hip. Just take this wickedly cool, mod cocktail area dreamed up by Gillian Design at right. Featuring retro shapes, throwback colors, and very reminiscent woodwork, this totally retro, glamorous setup looks like something out of a Bond film. In fact, the swingin' vibe of this corner bar was so fetching, we were hungry to have it for ourselves—within our budget, of course. In this week's real/deal/steal challenge, see how we take the elements of this bar from almost $10,000 to a mere $1,648 via our moodboard builder. We've got a (golden) eye for this after-hours space:

In this first version, you can go for the gold with detail. Some sleek and authentic vintage pieces via 1stdibs really capture the vibe of the original, while a funky orange chair from Burke Decor cinches the overall look, for a grand total of $9879.99.

We are loving the new shapes and structures in the deal version for $4458.99, which are still retro but a bit rounder on the edges. We like the addition of this graphic black and white print on the pillow—very mod.

stealRounding out the steal version for $1648.97 is a series of affordable but still design-y pieces that capture the look. A chair from Target and a pillow from Etsy work well with a cool spiky pendant.
