Ombre Strikes Again! But This Time, in a Very Specific Home Decor Piece

Share

We hesitate to call it a comeback, but—ombre is taking over again in a big way. After working its magic through fashion and our hair, the trend has settled onto our home decor via one very specific piece. The eminently DIY-able gradient, though it has been tested on a number of home decor items, appears to have stuck in particular onto bookshelves, as we (and the writers over at Apartment Therapy) have observed. It appears, via the number of striking images of the trend in Pinterest-land or otherwise, that the bookcase has been unofficially crowned the winner of most ombre-worthy piece. It makes sense, as bookshelves serve as the perfect placement for a color gradient. Check out how the trend works on a few of our favorite bookcases below, and get inspired to work a bit of ombre magic onto yours:

We like that the trend doesn't stick to the shelves proper in the bookcase on the left. And in neon below, the bookcase takes on two trends at once. How versatile!

Looks like the kids get all the fun with this trend via these bookcases from the Land of Nod. Don't worry—if you get them for yourself, we won't tell anyone. Graduated Wide Bookcase in Pink and Blue via The Land of Nod.
