This Moroccan-Inspired Trend Is Officially Everywhere

There's nothing like finding a pattern so beautiful, you have to actively resist the desire to put it in every room in your home. If the sudden upswing in a certain tiling across the design world is any indication, we think we've found the pattern with this particular magnetic pull.

Influenced by geometric shapes known as Zellige (a unique, artistic way of painting ceramic tiles), this style of patterning originated from Muslim culture and was brought to Europe by the Moors when they conquered Spain. It was during the Marinid dynasty in Morocco that the popularity of this art style became more prevalent, and was further elevated by becoming a symbol of sophistication and wealth in the home, appearing on walls, fountains, floors, countertops, and more.

We're quite smitten with this gorgeous pattern, which has transformed through the centuries and been brought back to much current acclaim. We mean—a former symbol of elegance and luxury that can also cover several areas of the home? Say no more. Here we've captured some of the ways this design has been incorporated in different rooms of the home, providing a flawless, versatile accent for any space.
