Master's Class: Welcome

Welcome to what I hope will be one of your favorite regular columns on the nousDECOR Blog! This is the first installment of the “Master's Class” series, hosted by myself, Mark Cutler. When the team decided to create this regular column, we had in mind a forum to help demystify the details of interior design.  We want to arm you, our trusty nousDECOR readers, with all the knowledge that an interior designer with years of experience has.

Want to know what thread count on your bedding really means, whether you should use marble or granite in your new kitchen, or even the basics of how to light a room to create the ideal mood? If so, this is your place to come. In the next weeks and months we will systematically lift the curtain (or is it drape?) on these and other mysteries. Together we will turn you, readers, into an army knowledgeable consumers—and more importantly, we will open your eyes to even greater ways to design the world around you.

So, you may be asking yourselves, what qualifies me to lead this endeavor?  Well, I have over twenty-five years of experience in the design industry, and I have worked with some of the most famous and wealthy people in the world. But more than that, I also believe that the more the artist understands the tools at hand, the better the art will be. I look forward to sharing my experiences as well as learning with you as we head off on a fabulous design journey.

Tune in every Tuesday for "Master's Class" with Mark Cutler!
