It's High/Low Time: Trendy Rugs Edition

By Eva Recinos A great rug can really add that missing element to your decor. But finding a stylish one at an affordable price can prove difficult sometimes. Not to worry — for this week's edition of High/Low, we did some research and found cheaper alternatives to normally pricy rugs. We chose different styles so that you can find a rug you like at a price you'll really love. That will leave funds for the rest of your decor — or for the next shopping trip. Check out the affordable alternatives we found to these popular styles:
The cowhide rug is definitely trendy in today’s decor. But these types of rugs can cost more than $500. While we love the look, we found a much more affordable alternative to the $549 West Elm rug. Head to IKEA and you’ll find the same style for only $199. That will leave much more in your wallet. Cowhide Rug, West Elm, $549. KOLDBY, IKEA, $199.
When you need just one more pattern to add visual interest to your room, we love the idea of a fun striped rug. At Williams-Sonoma you can spend $595 on this kind of rug or you can go for the more affordable version at IKEA for $299. The colors are slightly different but the effect would be the same on a room that needs a little something extra. Nothing beats saving a few hundred dollars. Staggered Striped Dhurrie Rug, Williams-Sonoma, $595. STOCKHOLM, IKEA, $299.
The Moroccan look is definitely trending right now but that doesn’t mean you have to break your wallet to join the fun. At Pottery Barn you could easily pay almost $800 for this Moroccan rug but we suggest you stop by World Market instead to find the same style for $599. We’re firm believers that staying stylish doesn’t mean you have to go broke! Moroccan Diamond Rug, Pottery Barn, $799. Ivory Moroccan-Style Shag Rug, World Market, $599.
Adding a bright rug to a space can really change the look of a space. To lighten up your room, try a Boucherouite rug. While your first instinct might be to browse sites like Chairish — which sells the rug for $622 — we actually recommend browsing Etsy. On the site, we found a similar style rug for only $270.74. That huge price difference means great news for your wallet. Purple, Red & Pink Boucherouite Rug, Chairish, $622. Moroccan Boucherouite Vintage Rug, Etsy, $270.74.

IKEA seems to be a great place to find cheaper alternatives to beautiful rugs. To round out this edition of High/Low, we present to you a beautiful diamond rug for less than $100. At One Kings Lane, this style of rug would cost you $155, but at IKEA it sells for $99. That difference means more money to buy the rest of your decor — and no one would be wiser to the difference since the IKEA rug looks just as fashionable. Diamond Flat-Weave Rug, One Kings Lane $155. LAPPLJUNG RUTA, IKEA, $99.
