Crowning Brown (As Our New Favorite Neutral)

Brown is not one of those trendy, exclusive colors. It does not stand as a pillar to modernism, or of splashy looks, or as a center of attention. It is the kind of color meant to make a room feel warm and comfortable, the kind of color that does not force people to brace themselves as they decide to purchase a decor item in a shade of it. It is a color for Fall, a color for coziness, a color we feel has been far too modest these days in terms of its versatility and its—yes—vibrance in a room. Check out how we got down with brown in these stunning interiors (and their mood board examples).

While this wallpaper (!) is amazingly gorgeous, we must also give props to the sleek touches of brown in the furnishings that round out the look.

Much like the Seattle bedroom in our Portland vs Seattle post, this bedroom exudes a quiet, casual elegance to do with the mix of browns and white, which play so well with light.

Brown is sleek, mod and yet still manages to be not-too-trendy in this relaxed, retro living room.

Again we work with brown as an accent that plays nice with its other neutral cousins buff and sand.
