6 Rooms That Prove a Little Gray Goes a Long Way

Share

By Eva Recinos If you take a moment to picture the most cozy room imaginable — complete with pillows, throw blankets and lit candles — you might not think of the color gray right away. But surprisingly, quite a number of interiors are inspiring us to put together more all-gray decor. Although the color might seem gloomy, it can look comfortable and welcoming when used in the right way. Gray can work well with other bold colors or look great on its own. Either way, it somehow makes furry blankets and fluffy pillows look even more inviting. If you're not quite sure how to add more gray to your decor, check out some of our favorite spaces for inspiration. These rooms range from eclectic to nap-ready and are proof that a little gray can go a long way: Image via innere etc.

dark and gray

For a very gray look, pair a gray accent wall with decor items in lighter shades. This room really sticks to a dark color scheme by also including black accents. The different variations of gray create a cohesive look without making the room too overwhelming. Inspiration Image via deco crush.

You can also use gray as the base color for a room. This space's accents really pop against a gray couch and wall. Add some white trimming and accents for even more visual interest. Gray makes a great backdrop for showcasing eclectic patterns and trinkets. Inspiration Image via Design*Sponge.

cozy space

This room might take the prize for the coziest gray room we've seen. A long gray couch replete with pillows and blankets just beckons the viewer to get cozy. Candles make the room even more relaxing and ready for reading — or napping. Inspiration Image via Liz Marie Blog.

Speaking of sleeping, this room layout proves that gray also looks great in the bedroom. This shabby chic look keeps the space simple yet comfortable. We love a fun duvet pattern but this grey outfit looks irresistibly cozy. Inspiration Image via innere etc.

bright and fun

For a whimsical look, try pairing a grey couch with lots of different colors. Here, we love the mixture of brightly-colored pillows and prints on a shelf. The couch doesn't compete with these elements, instead letting them stand out. Inspiration Image via decor8.
