5 Things You NEED for the Perfect Summer BBQ

Entertaining, especially in summer, is one of my favorite things to do. With warmer months on the way, putting together a barbecue is going to be a constant goal for me—and I imagine it will be for you, too. Now, creating the setting for the perfect outdoor cookout is not always easy. Here are five things that will help: Image via House Beautiful

1. Use a fabric table cloth, rather than the disposable plastic ones, as it will make the table look and feel a lot more special. If you want to try something that feels a bit more rustic, how about a painter’s drip cloth from your local hardware store? Images via Remodelista.

2. If you planning a nighttime event, don’t forget that even the warmest summer day can end in a cool evening! If you can’t have a campfire at your barbecue, be sure to provide another source of warmth, like these heat lamps. Via Lava Heat Italia

3. Lighting is always going to be important for an outdoor event, and I am a big fan of string lights such as these. The color is warm and very flattering and the string creates a virtual “ceiling,” too. Via Restoration Hardware

4. To create a more "homestyle" feel, think about using mason jars for flowers on the table. It may be seen a lot, but the trend is not dead yet. Plus, they’re the perfect piece of Americana for an outdoor summer holiday like Memorial Day or the Fourth of July! Images via smashedpeasandcarrots and infullbloomevents

5. Music is a crucial part of any gathering at my house, and the Sonos Play:1 does the perfect job. Plus, the fact that it’s wireless means I can move it around to anywhere the action is.
